Halloween

My favorite Halloween experience was on Friday. This Friday Danielle came over so we could go trick-or-treating together. But before we went trick-or-treating together we went to the neighbor's house for there Halloween party. At the party we had a lot of fun hanging out with our neighbor Gabby and her friend Julie and Julie's sister Katie. Julie and Gabby are one year younger than us but they are still fun to hang out with. Katie is eight years old but loves hanging out with us even though we're older than her. Gabby was the devil for Halloween, Danielle was a cat and Julie and Katie were not sure what they were but they were dead and I was a pirate. At six O’clock Gabby, Julie and Katie went trick-or-treating. Danielle and I went a little later because we were not completely ready. We still had to go get bags and Danielle had to paint her face. We all decided that they would wait for us in between the two culdesak and we would skip some houses to catch up with them. Gabby, Julie and Katie were in a hurry because Julie was going to the Playoff game with her dad and had to be done trick-or-treating by the time he came to pick her up. Once they finished all the houses Julie left and went to the game. Gabby and Katie stayed at Gabby’s house and started to trade candy. Meanwhile Danielle and I were going back to the houses we missed. When we were done it was about eight O’clock and we went to my house to trade candy with my brother, Spencer. Spencer had a lot more candy than each of us did but we didn’t care. When Katie and her mom went home Gabby started to pass out more candy to trick-or-treaters and Danielle and I went to help. We all had a lot of fun.

Fall

I have many favorite fall activities. I like carving pumpkins, making leave piles and jumping in them, making caramel covered apples, making apple pie, decorating the house with Halloween decorations, and trick or treating. I have many things I like about fall but, my favorite is picking pumpkins and making it into a jack lantern.

I pick and carve pumpkins every year with my family. We pick our pumpkins at Mulberry Corns in Chesterland. Only the four kids in my family get pumpkins. We all get pumpkins different shapes and sizes so they are all different. About a week after we get our pumpkins we carve them. As I carve my pumpkin I am always wondering how it will turn out. Normally I draw out different designs for the pumpkin and then choose the one I want to do. Then I cut off the top and get out all the seeds and all the other stuff in the pumpkin. Most of my family thinks that is the worst part but it’s one of my favorites. The hardest part of making a jack lantern is cutting out the mouth, so I usually tell my mom how I want it to look and she cuts it out for me. Once my pumpkins finished I clean it out and get all the stuff that fell in it and throw it away. Then I put a candle in it then light it and see how it looks in the dark. Once I go trick or treating I keep looking back at my house and see how the jack lanterns look from there. I can’t wait to get my pumpkin and carve it this year. I hope my pumpkin is big and round with a crazy stem this year. I can’t wait for all the other fun things about fall either.

Sameness and Difference

Sameness and difference have many things both bad and good about them. Sameness is bad because then nothing is unique and everything is boring. Difference is bad because then nothing has anything in common. Sameness is good because then everything is safe and there is really nothing bad that can happen to you but you really don’t get to experience war and death or any of the really good parts of life like family, love or warmth. Sameness is boring nothing dangerous ever happens and everything is the same as the day before. Not even the weather changes. You have so many rules that you can’t break. Without sameness nobody can really express themselves. But without sameness nobody would have twins or triplets. Sameness is really dull and boring. Difference is good because then everything is unique. But on the other hand difference isn’t good because then people don’t have as much in common and more people get bullied. Without difference everything is the same. Nothing would ever change without difference. Difference helps people show there interests and meet people with the same interests. Difference is exciting and new. Without difference people would barely ever get to say I like your haircut or compliment them on there clothing. Like in Jonas’s world without the memories there was no color and the only time something really changed was at the ceremonies and once that happened not only did something about you changed, your whole age group had the same thing happen to them. At the ceremony when the boys got there haircut so did all the others in that age group. When girls got rid of there ribbons so did all the others in that age group. Sameness and difference both really affect our world.

A Million Dollars

If I had a million dollars I would give 250000 dollars to my mom and we would go shopping. We would probably get lots of clothes and shoes. Once we were done shopping we would start planning a trip to Hawaii.I would take the whole family to Hawaii and I would buy tons of souvenirs and take lots of pictures. I would buy some things from Hawaii for all my friends. Each member of my family would receive money for whatever it is that they really want. I would also give around 25000 dollars to the kids in Africa. The rest of the money I would put towards college. I think having a million dollars would be awesome.
